For an optimum and speedy recovery of an injury from sport, early treatment is advised. The physiotherapist can diagnose and assess the problem and advise as to whether X-rays or MRI scans are necessary. Advice then is given as to whether rest or exercise is appropriate. Physiotherapy for such injuries will include advice in the form of immobilisation versus exercise and movement, electrotherapy in the form of ultrasound and interferential current, dry needling, mobilisation and strengthening and stretching exercises where appropriate.
Sports injuries treated at the practice include injuries from rugby, soccer and gaelic football, tennis injuries and golf injuries, running injuries and sporting injuries in children.
The injuries treated range from hamstring and calf tears, ankle sprains, knee cartilage and ligament tears, neck and back strains, tennis and golfer’s elbow, shoulder tendonitis, shin splints.
